Kuching School Projects Day

While looking at a project in a special needs section of a school, we were invited to come to the open house for the regular students.  They wanted us to see all the projects they had created.
Their artwork was very colorful and creative.
The children were all so happy to have us come and look at their projects.
All projects were made from the simplest of materials.

Elder Wilson and I really stand out as the only "orang putih" (white people) around.  All the the young people want to have their pictures taken with us.  We are such a novelty!

It was fun joining with the students to see their projects.

A Day with Orangutans! 11/13/2017

Craig and I went to the Semenggoh Nature Reserve
with high hopes of seeing
some orangutans on our P-Day.

 It was incredible.
We were literally within just a
few feet of these amazing creatures.

This one is the Dad!

We had a great time at the zoo with all of the
exotic animals.
Proboscis monkey

I am fascinated by the different varieties of monkeys.  I especially like the Probiscus.
He is quite unique and very hard to get a
picture as he turns away most of the time.  I
feel blessed to have gotten the above photo!

The ULTIMATE exotic dancer!

Craig will kill me when he sees this one!
Explanation about the dance:  With a basket in place on the back, and a machete/sword in hand, the dancer goes "hunting" around the tree.  When he finds a special treat that he likes, he "wacks" it off with his machete and goes on to find the next one.  Craig and I have had a couple of opportunities to do this dance.  So, hopefully, we will get better at it.  Just remember that the ancestors of these Dayak people were the former HEAD HUNTERS of Borneo.
