After a 4 and 1/2 hour drive deep in the jungle, LDS Charities and Rotary Club of Bintulu Central boarded a boat for another 30 minutes to get to the remote SK Airport School outside of Balaga, Sarawak where we provided school uniforms and supplies to this hostel/school for the students whose families live along the river.The school was in a beautiful setting right along the river.
On the same trip, we also provided fire extinguishers and training to two longhouse villages in the area.
These villages have had no source of fire protection in the past and were grateful for this training to help protect their villages.
Villagers were shown how to properly use and maintain the fire extinguishes. Even the children got to learn how to properly protect their villages from fire and to learn how to stop a fire from spreading by using the extinguishers.
